Negril is famous for its unique SNUBA adventure experience which is a cross of scuba diving and snorkeling. SNUBA participants breathe through a regulator attached to an airline that receives air from a tank nestled in an inflatable raft on the ocean’s surface. With SNUBA, you can even dive up to 20 feet below the ocean’s surface safely to get a closer look at what lies beneath. You don’t require any training or swimming classes to attempt a SNUBA.

Ocho Rios

Ocho Rios or Ochi is situated on the beautiful Northeast side of Jamaica, in the parish of St. Ann, and it is also close to the Jamaican Blue Mountains. Catherine Shipwreck is a famous tourist diving site in Ocho Rios. It is an old minesweeper, which was sunk in 50 feet/15 meters of water along with a cavernous reef system during the 1980s. The ship is approximately 120 feet/37 meters in length. You’ll find stingrays, barrel sponges, sea fans, nurse sharks, eels, lobsters, and caverns surrounding the Catherine Shipwreck.

Port Royal, Kingston

Port Royal, Kingston was once called the wickedest city in the world as a result of the atrocities committed there until an earthquake in 1692 sunk it with some 51 acres of the city disappearing underwater. Port Royal Cays near Kingston offers superb diving for divers and a large number of shallow shipwrecks and flashy reefs to explore. To dive into this protected area, you are required to get special permission from the local authorities which can be easily organized through any licensed and reputable dive operator.

The Throne Room

The Throne Room near Negril has often been rated the best dive by divers who frequent diving sites in Jamaica. Some divers call it a cave dive although most of it is a cavern dive. The entrance to the Throne Room is at a depth of 40 feet with a maximum depth of 70 feet and an exit to open water at 70 feet. You can experience multiple dives here if you’re feeling very adventurous.
